ABSTRACT
This study examines eating habits and weight in a representative national sample of Poles. We found bad eating habits (e.g. eating mindlessly when not hungry or when encouraged by others) predict BMI and the desire to loose weight quite well. Other predictors depend on gender and control over preparing meals. Men who have a good education, watch more television, eat meals prepared by others, are heavier than those who do not. Women who do much physical work, feel in bad health, eat meals they prepare themselves, are heavier than those who do the opposite.
