ABSTRACT
The dietary habits of selected groups of female and male students from Olsztyn University of Agriculture and Technology in Olsztyn (OUAT) and Medical Academy in Poznań (MA) were evaluated. Better nutritional value was found for the daily food rations (DFR) of OUAT students. Irrespective of the place of study, the dietary habits of men met the national recommendations closer than those of women. Characteristic features of the examined food rations were high content of fat, exceeding the recommendations, particularly in the DFR of MA students and the lack of good balance in the intake of nutrients. Further research is needed to explain why the respective body mass index (BMI) values for female and male students from Poznań and Olsztyn did not differ, despite higher energy value of food rations of OUAT students than MA students.
