ABSTRACT
Lycopene is one of the major carotenoids in the diet and provides red colour to tomatoes. Recent studies show that lycopene reduces the risk of chronic diseases, particularly cancers and cardiovascular disease. This protective role of lycopene is related to its antioxidant activities. A high concentration of lycopene has been found in the testes, adrenals, liver and prostate.
