The Polish Journal of Food and Nutrition Sciences mourns the loss of Prof. dr, dr h.c. Antoni Rutkowski, who passed away on the 3rd of June 2018.
As a Member of the Scientific Board of the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn (IAR&FR), as a President of the Polish Society of Food Technologists, and – most of all – as an open-minded person willing to disseminate findings of the Polish science, in 1992 Professor Rutkowski has contributed to the establishment of Polish Journal of Food and Nutrition Sciences at the Institute.
In the years 1992-2011, Professor Rutkowski served as the Chairman of Journal Advisory Board , and then since 2012 became a member of Journal Honorary Patronage. From the very beginning of Journal activity, his knowledge, expertise and engagement were invaluable to the Journal’s development. Professor Rutkowski always felt responsible for the dissemination of knowledge within the scientific community in Poland and abroad and put great emphasis on increasing international recognizability of our Journal. His support and efforts allowed the Journal to receive its first Impact Factor in 2014and be indexed in Journal Citation Reports ever since.
We will all remember Professor Rutkowski as an enthusiastic, optimistic and forever young person, having great passion for work and fond of solving crosswords.
“The living owe it to those who no longer can speak to tell their story for them.”
